Today - right here in Tucson, a gunman shot 19 people and killed six of them. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords has gone through surgery and is in the ICU, Federal Judge Roll was killed, along with another of Gifford's colleagues. A nine year old girl was also among those who were murdered.
Though the YouTube videos Jared Lee Loughner had uploaded indicated some mental issues, none of these explain his motives for taking those precious lives.
