Make Money on HubPages and Love What You Do

The first thing people ask when they join HubPages is "how am I going to make money?" I am not one of the big moneymakers on HubPages, but I have been around long enough to see how it works. When I can give it my focus, I make money, and I follow enough successful hubbers to know that It DOES work.

Those who focus on HubPages as a means of pulling in AdSense and affiliate dollars do begin to make a profit and over time, make a good amount of residual income from old hubs. If you think there is a trick to it, you are right. There are a few tricks. It comes down to pleasing your readers and enjoying your work!

You don't have to be in love with your topics, but it helps. Choose a few to several topics and fill each of them out with your hubs.

A hub should contain a good amount of great information or content.  Five hundred word hubs are fairly short, but publishable.  Longer hubs that entertain or educate keep visitors longer and allow them time to look over affiliate products from Amazon or eBay and explore AdSense links.

Utilize the capsules.  The best hubs are broken up into sections making up one comprehensive article.

Use keyword phrases -- make them long tail phrases wherever you can, but be sure those phrases fit into your content naturally!  Check my links widget for links to good keyword tools, including the best tools for choosing high paying ads on your site.

If you can find a YouTube video that works with your hub, by all means, embed one! A great video adds to great text.

Add photos or graphics that pertain to your topic. Be sure you have permission to use the photos and give credit where credit is due. Utilize the slide show when you have several graphics that pertain strongly to the hub. A good graphic slide show informs, entertains, and markets the topic.

Create back links outside of HubPages. Use blogs, article submissions, and social networks to link to your hubs.

Create links to others hubs from within and without the site. Linking from within encourages fellow hubbers to do the same. Many, if not most of your visitors will be hubbers. It's good karma.

Determine how much time you want to put in to HubPages. Do you wish to make it your job? The truth is that you will spend full-time hours for little to part-time pay for several months before seeing a good profit, but if you love hubbing, the time is well worth it.

If you wish to make a good income with HubPages alone, plan on creating several hubs every week, writing blog posts and utilizing anchor text to point to your hubs, and writing articles for directory submissions. Join She Told Me, Twitter, Facebook, Delicious, Digg, and Buzz. Notify each of every hub, blog, and article you publish, but also use these to advertise others' hubs, as well as quality sites you come upon.

Enjoying your HubPages experience is essential when you are making it your focus. Love your work and your work will love you back.

Follow other hubbers, leave fan mail, and comment on others' hubs. Not only does it encourage others to return the favor, it is a great way to get to know people.  If you have yet to join HubPages or haven't begun to socialize, make sure you make it part of your Hub experience.  There are some interesting, helpful, and talented people there!
